Thank you very much for your email. We safely came back to Japan, called Hotels.com and they admitted that it was totally their mistake(They had not sent you the order). We will get our money back.
Although we were very upset at first, as we were really looking forward to staying at your hotel, your sincerity and kindness truly saved our trip. We really appreciate your consideration and all that you have done for us. We learned what makes a wonderful hotel wonderful- true hospitality. If it were not for you, our memories of Talloire might have been a sad and terrible one. I think you have what the most famous and expensive hotels have forgotten.
Our wish to stay at your hotel has grown even stonger, and we are looking forward to making it come true in the near future. Again, thank you very much for your thoughtfulness, and we hope to see you soon.

Madame,
nous avons passé un moment magnifique au sein de l'Abbaye. Nos invités ont été enchantés tant par le repas que par le cadre que par la gentillesse du personnel. Auriez-vous l'amabiité de féliciter pour nous le chef Pascal Lognon pour son excellente cuisine ? Nous reviendrons vous voir régulièrement pour nous remémorer ces instants magiques et passer un agréable moment à l'Abbaye.

We were there late october, but can imagine in summer to die for. We booked a standard room wich are nice but the beds are to short!! The restaurant service is very good. Staff is very friendly. In general very good hotel: decoration top, restaurant good! location to die for!!!!

Voilà, nous sommes de retour dans notre région du Jura, nous ne pouvons que remercier nos enfants d'avoir eu cette excellente idée de nous offrir une soirée à L'Abbaye, le souvenir du passage dans votre établissement restera dans nos moments forts, nous tenions mon épouse et moi-même, à vous faire part de notre très grande satisfaction de cette soirée, musicale et oenogastronomique. L'accueil fut parfait, la prestation musicale d'Olivier Moulin, fut à la hauteur de la qualité de l'établissement que vous dirigez, ainsi que dans l'esprit qui s'en dégage. La soirée Oenogastronomique, que dire à part que l'ensemble des acteurs nous ont fait partager leur passion, que ce soit le Maitre sommelier, le Maitre d'hôtel, ou le Chef de cuisine qui nous a concocté un menu particulièrement réussi et tout en finesse. La chambre d'un très bon confort, très agréable, avec cette vue magnifique sur le lac, et même sous la pluie, ça a son charme. L'accueil et la qualité du buffet des petits déjeuners sont des atouts pour démarrer la journée dans de bonnes conditions. Avant notre départ nous avons eu le plaisir d'échanger quelques mots avec votre Chef de cuisine, et également avec votre Réceptionniste à qui nous avons fait part de notre satisfaction. Le Chef de cuisine regrettait pour nous que le soleil ne soit pas au rendez vous, mais il était sur le visage de vos Collaboratrices et Collaborateurs et c'était le principal pour nous. Merci encore Madame la Directrice pour l'âme que vous donnez à cet établissement, nous ne manquerons pas d'en vanter les qualités et de faire partie de vos clients commerciaux. September 2010. We had a very good meal there, further improved by glorious weather - we had lunch on the upper terrace which is set in very pretty gardens and with a stunning view of the lake. The staff were charming, welcoming and high-end professional - a young woman maitre d', two competent and very polite young waiters and an enthusiastic sommelier who prepares a wonderfully balanced kir ! in a very large glassful, (? 200 mls), 9 euros each. The wine list was very long and interesting and with no more than usual mark-up prices. The linen and settings were high quality and elegant.
You can choose a 'formule' of 2, 3, 4 or 5 courses (33 to 65 euros) all taken from the à la carte menu, 4 or 5 choices for each course. (http://abbaye-talloires.com/pdf/carte-jardins-delices.pdf). We both had the entrée + plat + dessert at 40 euros. A nice little amuse bouche! then entrées of foie gras poêlé, potimarron, lard et jus de miel + créme de celeri, white crab meat, a poached egg and generous slivers of truffle. Both were faultless and delicious. The main course fish - sea bream - was fresh and delicious and perfectly cooked, with crisp skin. Dessert - of crémeux vanille au spéculos, raisins et jus au vin épicé - was also delicious. Finally, for a restaurant of this quality, they only charge 3,50 euros for (excellent) coffee so it is on the generous side to serve 4 wonderful and very large petit four patisseries with the coffee. Again all delicious.
Only negatives for us were firstly a meat plat which was not good - the lamb was rosé as asked for but seemed not to have been seared at all so there was a lot of cool, uncooked fat. It was described as a carré d'agneau but arrived as just two rather pallid lamb chops. There was also a tiny pot (small spoonful) only of the very good lamb jus - but a second pot arrived when requested. The second negative, but maybe we are being fussy, was that all the unused tables set for lunch were cleared completely, and rather noisily, while we and another table were still eating dessert.
Altogether a lovely place which we look forward to returning to and would be scored 5/5 for us if it wasn't for the very disappointing meat dish.

We have just returned from a week at l'abbaye. It is a wonderful hotel on several fronts.
Firstly it is in a beautiful and quiet location, It is an historic and facinating building, it has lovely rooms and a superb restaurant and best of all, friendly and very proffessional staff.
Everything about this hotel is quietly first class ,proffesionally understated, modestly luxurious.....in short, a joy.

Dear Sir/ Madam,
My wife and I would like to express our thanks to you and your staff. We have just returned from a wonderful week in your exceptional hotel, and whilst the hotel itself is both beautiful and fascinating, it is the staff, particularly the lady who presides over the breakfast room and the waiter who mostly looked after us at Dinner and the receptionist who we know only as the “bat lady *”, who added warmth to the overall ambience. All the staff were extremely professional but these three were outstanding.

And thank you again to you and to all of the staff at l’Abbaye. We had an unforgettable experience having our wedding in l’Abbaye. The service and performance by you and your staff was first class. I have been to many weddings over the years, many in excellent establishments. But the quality of the experience we had at l’Abbaye was a level above all of them. I had a lot of comments from our guests – young and old – saying the same. More importantly, we all enjoyed it immensely and had great fun. So a very big thank you to you all.
We’ll send some photos when we have them, shortly.
We look forward to coming back to Talloires and spending time in the Abbaye again very soon – no doubt in 2011.

Nous avons passé un WE à labbaye de Talloires. L'hôtel est une ancienne batisse religieuse située au bord du lac, dans le très joli village de Talloires. L'endroit est très calme et reposant. L'accueil en réception a été parfait. Notre chambre donnait sur une grande salle dans laquelle on organise maintenant des concerts le samedi soir. C'était d'ailleurs le cas ce soir là. La fenêtre s'ouvrait sur une vue à la fois sur les jardins et sur le lac. La chambre était très correcte, spacieuse et propre, malgré une petite toile d'araignée dans un coin qui avait dû échapper à la vigilance du service d'étages. Le spa se trouve au dernier étage (sauna et jaccuzi,), mais nous ne l'avons pas essayé. Après une promenade, nous avons pris un verre au bar; service très courtois .Le soir, la directrice de l'hôtel nous a réservé une table au restaurant (une magnifique salle donnant sur le lac), et nous avons pu goûter à la cuisine du chef, qui revisite avec succès les produits du terroir. Le service était parfait,et nous avons particulièrement apprécié le sommelier, qui est un vrai passionné, et qui a largement contribué à nous faire passer un agréable moment. Le petit déjeuner était parfait, avec un buffet extrêmement copieux et varié. Nous avons beaucoup aimé ce séjour, et retournerons à l'abbaye de Talloires avec plaisir.
